Family History

According to family sagas, my grandfather William Brookes, ran away to America at the age of 14 (?in 1870) from the family farm, Madam's End in Gloucestershire. He lived in Texas until 1899 when he moved to Sasketchewan, Canada as the land there was being opened up to farming. These pages attempt to trace the Brookes family before and after William Brookes. Beware that the spelling of the surname is variable! William used both 'Brooke' and 'Brookes' in the course of his life, and there may be some 'Brooks' about, too.
